A Taurus SHO showing an Audi V8 who is boss, in the words of Tanner "for $20k less".

When did these drop below 20k ? I gotta call my mother and let her know ...
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:34 |

And it's still a Taurus.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:35 |

This is why I want a SHO in my collection
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:37 |

THey are $20k less than the Audi, a 2010 model will set you back anywhere from low to mid 20's depending on miles.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:40 |

a SHO ? Fuck yea !
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:40 |

I recommend it :)
I'm getting a tune + downpipes on mine soon. At that point it get's so fast that it will stomp on 5.0 Mustangs and keep up with Corvette's.
There's something satisfying about keeping up with people in a Taurus.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:41 |

Yep, a Taurus that beats an Audi. Not just in speed but also in luxury, options and price.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:42 |

Yep, I picked mine up for 22, with 40k miles on it, almost fully loaded. Depreciation is a beautiful thing.

It's a Ford ad basically. They took a car nearly at the end of it's life cycle (that generation A6 was released in 2005 and 2010 was it's last year) and put it against a car that was brand new in 2010. The replacement for the A6 jumped from 330HP/345HP, depending on which one they used to 415HP or 552HP depending on which you picked the next generation.

Good thing they are comparing performance models.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:51 |

Ah ok, 0-60 for a '12 Audi A6 with v8 is 5.2 seconds, which is only ever so slightly faster than the SHO. Which I believe comes in at 5.4.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:52 |
|
implying they should have compared it to the S6?
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:53 |
|
oops i was incorrect, it's 4.6 seconds for the '12 A6 V8
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:56 |
|
Don't forget the 2012 A6 3.0T v6 lays down a 0-60 of 5.2 and a 1/4 mile of 13.6. That's the same as the SHO Performance Package... and doing it with a lot more style and luxury ;) They are completely different demographic cars other than both being sedans.

Ecoboost engines are cool. 365 from stock but easily 400-450 with a proper tune and bit of piping
![]() 02/12/2014 at 10:57 |
|
I was just about to correct that, so instead I changed it to reference the v6. I figured that was the one you were talking about.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:00 |

I wouldn't. Things might get hairy.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:10 |

I would argue your luxury point. The SHO comes very well equipped.
Suede seats, heated/cooled seats, heated rear seats, nav, climate control, etc. etc.

My downpipes arrive tomorrow :) I am so excited to hear what they'll sound like. With that and a tune I should be getting close to 440 at the crank.
The EB3.5 came from the factory in a very much detuned state. Perhaps that's why my car is classified a family sedan :)

I'm curious, have you driven both cars?
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:16 |

I'm happy you're happy with yours. Just seems like an odd comparison to me.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:29 |

lol, your comments were just confusing me.
Personally, I find these cars cross-shoppable.
They are both (near)luxury 4 door sedans.
Picture someone shopping for an AWD sedan, they typically will head to the Audi dealership, but someone like me may urge them to test drive my car or a SHO at the dealership. It may or may not sway them, but at the very least I can guarantee you they'll be pleasantly surprised with what the Taurus has become. It is a very tempting offer for a similarly equipped car at a much lower price point.

I have ridden in the Audi, haven't driven it.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:33 |

Except I feel there aren't many AWD, stick, V8 options while there are PLENTY of AWD Turbo variants.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:38 |

Haha, the stick+AWD being the key there. Eliminate either of those requirements and the options come flooding in, haha. They are sadly tough to find. But I desperately wish Ford would've offered the SHO with a manual. Offering the fusion with a Manual on FWD models only was a dick-move too.

You're telling me the SHO is auto only?
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:43 |
|
Ya my Collection right now is a 1973 Gran Torino Sport (The Granddad of your car), 2011 Mustang GT Premium(Found it with $7k worth of factory options on it), and My DD a 2008 Mustang V6 bought used with 8900 miles on it and it just broke 50K about 4 days ago, but I will be trading it in on a 2004 Mustang Mach 1 in Screaming Yellow.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:47 |

yes.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:48 |
|
Wow, that's quite a Ford collection! The '08 Mustang must be kind of slow compared to the GT and/or Mach 1. Do you still enjoy it or are you upgrading because it isn't fast enough?
![]() 02/12/2014 at 11:58 |
|
Rough. That's a deal breaker for me, I don't even know how to drive auto.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 12:06 |
|
I have driven both, but not a whole lot. They aren't really cars that interest me so I didn't spend much time fiddling with them. I was just curious if you had more experience with a specific feature or configuration that you were referencing. Personally I thought they were similar (they are similar priced as well) but that the build quality of the Audi was better, as was the driving feel.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 12:20 |
|
Can't comment on driving feel. But as far as fit and finish I am very impressed with the Ford. I don't think they are far off from Audi, it is a very pleasant place to be. Especially when you consider the $10-20k savings.
I am however interested in getting a smaller 2 door rwd car, something for fun. Which depends on whether I want a truck or not, lol.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 12:25 |

Where are you getting the $10,000 to $20,000 in saving from? The going rate for a 2013 SHO V6T is around $40,000 and the going rate for an 2013 A6 V6T is around $43,000.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 12:26 |
|
haha, because the Ford-skewed video told me so.
The 4.2 '10 comes in at around $60k. That must be the number they used.

Yeah, the v8 model is more expensive than the v6... they just carefully glossed over the fact the v6 Audi and V6 SHO are the same prices essentially and the same performance. ;)
